Vice - Minister Ahmed Aden Ismail (Keyse)

Biography
Hon. Ahmed Aden Ismail was appointed Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on 30th of June, 2015. He has a long record of service within a number of different Somaliland government departments. He served as Vice Minister of the Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs from February 2009 to July 2010. Between August and November 2004 he was Director General of Ministry of Trade and Industry. From November 2004 to February 2009 he held the position of Director General at the Ministry of Interior. Hon. Ahmed has extensive knowledge and experience of Somaliland’s democratic political system, having held a number of key positions within various Somaliland political parties. A founder member and vice chairman of Somaliland’s ‘Ileys’ political party, he also served on the executive committee of UDUB (former ruling party) between November 2001 and March 2012. Subsequently, he served as General Secretary of UCID political party from July 2012 to November 2013 and since April 2014 he has been a member of Central Committee of Kulmiye political party (The currently ruling party). Prior to his work as a public servant, Ahmed enjoyed a career in Education. The holder of several primary and graduate degrees from Somalia, the UK, and the Open University, including a Masters of Education, he has worked as a biology and English language teacher in Somaliland, Somalia and the UK.
